| God wants His people to possess the Promised Land |
There is a Promised Land for the people of God redeemed by the Blood of Christ Jesus under the New Covenant. The
New Testament Book of Hebrews speaks of a rest to the people of God (Heb.3:16-19 and 4:1-12). The people of Israel under the
Old Covenant could not enter in the Promised Land "because of unbelief". He who "is entered into His rest,
he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Let us labour, therefore, to enter into that rest, lest any man
fall after the same example of unbelief". Out of the thousands of people delivered from the bondage of Egypt,
only two people i.e. Joshua and Caleb along with a remnant of the people of Israel i.e. the little ones entered the Promised
Land (Num.14:30-33). God was grieved with the people of Israel for forty years.
There is also a reference to "the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem" in Heb.12:22. We, the people
of God, under the New Covenant have come unto the heavenly Jerusalem, the Promised Land.
